Dr. Hanan Attia Elimam is working as a Lecturer of Biochemistry at Faculty of Pharmacy, Sadat City University, Egypt .

Techniques for cell and molecular biology:

Dr. Hanan Attia Elimam has gained a powerful experience in broadly applicable laboratory techniques including:

  • Cell tissue culture (GEC, COS-1, 293T, and mouse podocytes).
  • DNA preparation and purification.
  • Transient and stable transfection.
  • Flow cytometry (FACS).
  • Gel electrophoresis.
  • Immunoblotting.
  • Immunochemistry and immunofluorescence.
  • Use fluorescent microscopy in examination of live or fixed and stained cells.
  • Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and PGE2 Assay.
  • Cytotoxicity assays (LDH assay).
  • Cloning and construction of iPLA2g mutants using Poly Chain Reaction (PCR) based mutagenesis.
  • RNA extraction from cells and tissues (kidneys).
  • Quantitative real time PCR to measure gene expressions.

Techniques for in vivo studies:

  • Writing animal protocols for McGill University Animal Care Committee.
  • Genotyping of mice (tail DNA, ear punch DNA).
  • Analysis of myocardial function and histology.
  • IP, IV injection of rats and mice.
  • Preparation of immortalized mouse podocyte cell lines.
  • Preparation of electron microscopy samples.
  • Use electron and fluorescent microscopy in examination of fixed kidney tissues.
